NSUACE (Sibstrin) participated in the I Intercollegiate Discussion Platform in French

On November 24, 2022, the students of NSUACE (Sibstrin) who study French as a foreign language and foreign students of Russian Language Department from Cameroon Foncu Nde Loik Donald and Kutche Fongong Frank participated in the I Intercollegiate Discussion Platform in French at the Siberian Institute of Management, Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (SIM RANEPA) on the topic “Right to Education - What Is It?” («Droit à l’éducation: où en est-on?»).

The representatives of 4 universities gathered at the discussion platform: Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Sibstrin), Novosibirsk State Technical University, Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management, Siberian Institute of Management - a branch of RANEPA, as well as high school students of Gymnasium No. 1 and Gymnasium No. 16 “French”. The main goal of the event was to promote the development of intercultural and foreign-language communicative competencies of Novosibirsk students.

The program of the discussion platform consisted of two stages. During the first stage the participants worked in the teams with “warm-up” tasks on authentic video materials. The second stage involved project activities in unfamiliar teams (the teams included one representative from each educational institution). For half an hour the participants thought through the concept of a project designed to make education more accessible to those groups of the population that were deprived of them, then the teams presented the projects in French. Each presentation was accompanied by a mini Q&A session.

Students from Cameroon were pleased with the event, where they did not only participate in the command task, but they also talked with Russian students from various universities of the city. They said that such an experience was very useful for them.

The students of NSUACE (Sibstrin) were awarded with the participation certificates in the discussion, and the work of the university organizer of the discussion, the teacher of the Foreign Languages Department – Alexandra Bazina – was thanked by the director of the Siberian Institute of Management – a branch of the RANEPA.
