“There should not be any boundaries in environmental issues”: NSUACE (Sibstrin) took part in the organization of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Global Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable Development until 2030”

On December 3-4, 2020, the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Global Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable Development until 2030” was held in an online format with the participation of the Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Sibstrin).

The conference was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the University of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Roscongress Foundation, the Ministry of Education of the Novosibirsk Oblast, the Department of International Relations of the Administration of the Governor of Novosibirsk Oblast and the Government of Novosibirsk Oblast.

Welcoming speeches of the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Khakimov B.M., the Governor of Novosibirsk Oblast, A.A. Travnikov, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, N.K. Omurov, the Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, E.M. Gorozhankin preceded the opening ceremony of the conference.

More than ten discussion platforms were organized at the forum. The experts from Russia, China, Kazakhstan, the USA, Germany, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan and other countries discussed the problems of the development of science and training of specialists in the priority areas of the SCO University on behalf of sustainable social and economic development of countries in the face of new challenges and consequences of COVID-2019 for the world economic system.

One of the central themes of the international forum was the environmental problems of the contemporary world. NSUACE (Sibstrin) and RUDN University (Moscow) organized the work of the subsection “Ecology” moderated by the director of the Institute of International Affairs of NSUACE (Sibstrin), the deputy head of the UNESCO department N.V. Sineeva and the deputy dean for international affairs of the Faculty of Ecology, RUDN, A.V. Popkova.

“Russia has started to intensify the solution of problems related to ecology since 2017. Unfortunately, not all of them are successfully solved; moreover, some of them are aggravated every year. In this regard, the President of the Russian Federation, V.V. Putin, identified environmental issues as one of those that will be resolved in the very near future”, – said the Rector of NSUACE (Sibstrin), the corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, Honored Ecologist of the Russian Federation, Professor Yu. L. Skolubovich – Our university is environmentally oriented. Thanks to the active life position and work of our students and teachers, we occupy high ranks in the ranking of Green Universities of Russia, the international UNESCO chair work at the university on the issues of rational use of water resources. It is one of eight in Russia. We always try to participate actively in an international research and cooperation in order to solve environmental problems. Moreover, it allows not only to decide, but also to outpace their development. I would like to emphasize that in environmental issues there should not be any state boundaries”.

Experts from Russia and countries from CIS states and far abroad made presentations at the subsection “Ecology”. As part of the work, issues of environmental safety in urbanized territories, integrated management of imported resources and solid household waste, as well as human ecology were considered.

According to the results of the subsection “Ecology”, the participants noted its high practicality and orientation, as well as good technical implementation.

In addition, during the work of the subsection “Open Education in the Modern World” the associate professor of NSUACE (Sibstrin) S.A. Valger spoke and presented master classes on the topic of “MODERN PROGRAM COMPLEXES AND DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES FOR SOLUTIONS INECOLOGY OF URBAN ENVIRONMENTS”.
