The spring English-language course “Applied Aerodynamics”
The spring elective course “Applied Aerodynamics” held in English was organized as part of the European Erasmus+ program for students of a consortium of Novosibirsk universities (NSU, SSUGT, NSTU, NSUACE (Sibstrin)). This was an updated course of the professor, head of the laboratory of the University of Stuttgart, Uwe Gaisbauer, Honorary Professor of NSUACE (Sibstrin). Ten undergraduate and graduate students from all the university departments took part in this course.
The first part of the course consisting of 8 online lectures was held by the German scientist in February-March 2020. Due to the difficult epidemiological situation, the planned visit of Professor Uwe Gaisbauer intended to continue the course offline was canceled, and lectures were fully implemented in online format. Lectures were held in English without translation, but with accompanying material (English-Russian glossary with terms and concepts used).
A complementary feature of this semester course was the English-language lecture of the scientific researcher of the Computer Simulation REC “CADFEM-Sibstrin”, Svetlana Alekseyevna Walger. She spoke about computer programs and design systems used for aerodynamics.
The exam was held on May 14 in an online format, where each student answered the Professor's questions in English. Unfortunately, not everyone was able to participate due to limited Internet resources.
Most of the participating students successfully passed the exam. They will be awarded certificates of international standard for the course completion.
In the fall of 2020, the updated course “Applied Aerodynamics” will be reopened. To register for the course, please contact the director of the Center for International Projects, Lytkina Evgenia Vladimirovna, email@example.com (with the subject “Applied Aerodynamics-Autumn”).
