VII International Symposium "ACTUAL PROBLEMS OF COMPUTATIONAL SIMULATION IN CIVIL ENGINEERING" was held at NSUACE (Sibstrin)

From July 1 to July 8, 2018, the largest conference in Russia on the problems of computer modeling in construction, the VII International Symposium "Actual Problems of Computational Simulation in Civil engineering ",was held in Novosibirsk on the basis of Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Sibstrin) under the auspices of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences .

The symposium gathered a record number of participants.  More than 300 (about 200 full-time participants) scientists and specialists from different cities of Russia and foreign countries such as Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Poland, Armenia, the USA, Vietnam and Serbia discussed theoretical foundations and problems of computer modeling, problems of modeling life cycles of buildings and structures at the stages of their erection, operation, resistance to progressive destruction, special aspects of the use of materials and structures in non-stationary physical conditions with complex influences, as well as the possibilities of modern software in the analysis and design of construction projects. The work was conducted in the format of scientific sections, round tables, seminars and master classes. During the days of the symposium, 14 plenary reports, 85 oral reports in four sections and 30 poster presentations were heard. Master classes, round tables and seminars were organized with the help of sponsors of the symposium, software development companies working in the field of construction and architecture: scientific and design firm SKAD SOFT LLC, Lira Service LLC, MSC Software, Research and Educational Centre of Computer Modeling “Cadfem-Sibstrin”. During the symposium a meeting of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences "Software in Construction and Architecture" and a session in the Altai Mountains were held.

A delegation of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences arrived to participate in the symposium. It included the Vice-Presidents of RAACS V.I. Travush and V.A. Ilyichev, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Construction Sciences of RAACS, Academician N.I. Karpenko, Academicians of RAACS L.S. Lyakhovich, V.I. Andreev and S.V. Fedosov, Chief Scientific Secretary of the RAASN, Corresponding Member P.A. Akimov, Corresponding Members of RAACS A.M. Belostotsky, G.G. Kashevarova, S.B. Krylov, adviser of RAASN, Chairman of the Scientific Council "Software in Construction and Architecture" V.N. Sidorov.

The organizers of the symposium did their best to make it not only informative, but also the most useful for all participants. For the first time within the framework of the International Symposium "Actual Problems of Computational Simulation in Civil Engineering" the information on the events was presented in two formats: directly in the auditoriums and in the video broadcast format, which is available on the official website of the symposium. Also for the first time it is planned to publish the collection of proceedings of the symposium in English at the international publishing house IoP in the Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) series indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science databases, which will significantly raise the rating of this event and its participants.

The VII International Symposium "Actual Problems of Computational Simulation in Civil Engineering" was very productive and held at a high organizational level, and will undoubtedly give a new impetus to the further development of this important area of building science.
