NSUACE (Sibstrin) student (Sibstrin) is a bronze medalist of the Olympiad in foreign languages among the university students of non-linguistic specialties in Russia and the CIS.

We congratulate Alexander Vorobyov, a first-year student of NSUACE (Sibstrin), the Institute of Civil Engineering (Sibstrin), who took the third place in the International Student Olympiad in Foreign Languages among the university students of non-linguistic specialties. The event was held from March 28 to April 11, 2023 at the Russian Technological University of MIREA.

The Olympiad received about 200 applications from the university students of the Russian Federation and neighboring countries: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Amur Region, Republic of Bashkortostan, Belgorod Region, Volgograd Region, Voronezh Region, Jewish Autonomous Region, Ivanovo Region, Lipetsk Region, Magadan Region, Kaliningrad Region, Krasnodarsky Krai, Krasnoyarsky Krai, Komi Republic, Novgorod Region, Novosibirsk region, Omsk region, Primorsky Krai, Samara region, Republic of Tatarstan, Tver region, Tomsk Oblast, Republic of Tuva, Penza Region, Ryazan Region, Rostov Region, Udmurt Republic, Ulyanovsk Region, Chelyabinskay Region, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the 1st remote round, the participants of the Olympiad were offered the tasks of three types: reading, listening, lexical and grammatical tasks. According to the results of the 1st round those students who won were interviewed during the 2nd round.  The second final round of the Olympiad was held in a face-to-face format.

A team of three participants took part in “English” contest from Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Sibstrin): Ksenia Spekhova (125 group), Anton Biryukov (110a group), Alexander Vorobyov (120a group). As a team round of the MSO, it was proposed to record a video “Commercial video: a foreign language in my profession”. The close-knit work and creativity of the team members allowed them to create a wonderful video about our university.

The teachers of the English language of the participats in the MSO are Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages, Inna Mikhailovna Makarikhina and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Foreign Languages, Head of the NSUACE (Sibstrin) Team, Nadezhda Maratovna Morozova.

At the solemn part of the Olympiad closing, the rector of RTU MIREA Stanislav Kudzh addressed with congratulations. He congratulated all participants, noting that each of them is talented in his own way, and it is necessary to help identify these abilities. That participation in such an event is always a unique opportunity to learn a lot of new and interesting things, gain invaluable experience, and that these are the first steps to the big goals.

By decision of the organizing committee, the winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad received valuable prizes. The prize for the 3rd place is an external SSD HP P500 1TB. All participants in the Olympiad received certificates, and team leaders received letters of thanks.
